Why is it said "beauty is only skin deep."?

What about the people who have beautiful hearts and souls as well?

Why is it said "beauty is only skin deep."?
"Beauty is only skin deep" means that just because a person may be very attractive on the outside, it does not necessarily mean that she/he is beautiful on the inside as well. The warning is often used by parents to remind their children to judge and choose their friends and mates by qualities that are more meaningful than surface beauty.
Reply:we dont care about those people, we just want some fine azz women, lol j/k..no i'm not
Reply:Because it wouldn't be fair for someone to be good-looking AND a nice person!
Reply:You just answered your own question.
Reply:I think it is because you can be beauthiful on the outside, but it doesn't show

what the person is really like. That beauty could only be skin deep, but inside that person is not "beautiful". Of course the saying does not hold true for everyone, because there are a lot of people who are beautiful on the inside.
Reply:I think this saying is akin to the one, "Don't judge a book by it's cover." It's a gentle reminder, that one, all that glitters is not gold, and two, you should always look deeper than the surface. Sometimes it's not instantly obvious, the beauty of a person's heart and soul, but you should always be willing to look for it, less you find that others are less willing to look at yours!
