If beauty is only skin deep, how can some people be described as having an inner beauty?

When you get to know someone well, you don't really notice their outer appearance. You know their likes and dislikes, their mannerisms, quirks and the things that make them one of a kind. There are many people that are extremely beautiful and no one would ever guess it until they knew them.

If beauty is only skin deep, how can some people be described as having an inner beauty?
It's two different types of beauty. The phrase "beauty is only skin deep" refers to physical beauty and implies that visually attractive people are not necessarily the kindest people. Inner beauty is kindness, caring, and compassion--personality traits valued by most people.
Reply:They are just sayings, not to be taken literally.

Reply:It should be said that physical beauty is only skin deep. There are many different layers to humans and each one can be beautiful or ugly in its own way.
Reply:i agree with "temper v."

when you see someone around school or whatever, you see their looks. but once you get to know them, you don`t notice their looks anymore. like for example i had this friend who i really considered pretty. the closer i got to her, i didn`t really look at her as a pretty girl no more. she`s still pretty, but to me, she`s just my friend. i mean yeah, her looks make people WANT to get to know her, but the reason why they stay is because her inner beauty captures the heart♥
