If beauty is only skin deep, why do people go for looks rather than brains?

Reply:I think people go for looks first and fall for brains later. While it seems like there are some people who only go for looks period, I have seen that those people realize beauty only goes so far if the person is annoying, stupid, vapid, or otherwise. Beauty attracts people first because it's the first thing you notice about a person, literally--because it's what you see on the outside, and you can't really tell how smart a person is from first glance without having conversation with them first. So the first thing you notice about people is their looks. Eventually though, in many cases, the attraction transforms from being based on beauty to being based on the whole package of personality and intelligence and attraction.
Reply:I think true beauty is a combination of both physical and mental beauty. It may appear that people go for looks over brains, but it's natural to find certain 'looks' and shapes of the opposite sex attractive, and it's often the first thing that catches one's attention. The determining factor is, of course, whether one looks past the initial physical beauty and looks for beauty in the mind as well. Good luck if you find that combo!
