What does 'beauty is only skin deep' mean?

It basically means that the only thing that should matter about a person is their personality. Not what they look like. Because just because they are "beautiful" on the outside doesn't mean they are on the inside; the way they act.

What does 'beauty is only skin deep' mean?
It means beauty isn't everything.

A person can be beautiful but have an ugly personality.
Reply:it means beauty is superficial, not deep inside, it's just the cover of a real one, real beauty is in soul and heart
Reply:it's code for "I'm ugly" or "I have a really good personality!"
Reply:beauty cannot be seen outside but beauty should be in the inside meaning your personality should be good you can't get what you want without having beauty skin deep
Reply:It means take care of what you look like, but don't forget the basis of who you are personally. Who you are is as much as what you look like. Things(like what you look like) change. People don't. A guy will love you for you. And not 'cos you look like Tyra Banks. And don't listen to Snow Covered. Who you are is worth more than what you look like. There's no harm in looking hot, as long as you know who you're going home with!!!A
Reply:It means that, like skin, beauty is thin and that what makes a person is what there character is within them.
Reply:Take a steaming hot terd and wrap it in gold with diamond ribbons around it, It is a beautiful package but it's still just shtt inside. People can be this way - very attractive, and even seductive looking but still just garage inside - bad people, you know?
Reply:people classify beauty with what's associated with a nice looking face without giving into the idea that beauty is really (underneath)skin deep. a person can be beautiful because he or she has a wonderful personality, and be ugly physically. the expression about 'beauty' being skin deep is there just to remind us that everyone is beautiful in their own way.
