What is the true definition of ugly?? {skin deep or outter wise speaking}?

Ugly is a matter of perception. There is no universal definition for "ugly" because it varies greatly throughout cultures.

In some African cultures a cleft-pallet is regarded as "sexy" whereas a cleft-pallet is regarded as socially unattractive in western culture.

What is the true definition of ugly?? {skin deep or outter wise speaking}?
My definition of ugly is people who have no tolerance for others. Those people who judge and hate you without even getting to know you, who spread those nasty emotions around.
Reply:Ugly to me means people who don't accept others

This means racial,spiritual,and physical
Reply:a goodlooking person is beautiful if he/she has a genuine and nice personality.

a goodlooking person is ugly if he/she has a s h i t of a personality.

a person who doesnt see tht a goodlooking person may be ugly inside is just asking for it.

well i guess there's a difference between insanely pretty/gorgeous and BEAUTIFUL. (:
Reply:There is no definite standard for ugliness as it is modified from generation to generation but one example that will be the epitome of ugliness for many generations is the Mona Lisa.
Reply:OK, you are talking about physical "ugliness."

A lot or research has been done on what people find physically attractive and unattractive.

Briefly, people rate the following female features as attractive: facial symmetry, youthful-appearing body and skin, smooth skin, clear eyes, good muscle tone, larger breasts (rated by men in Western cultures), smaller waist than hips (ratio of waist/hips = .7).

People rate the following male characteristics as attractive: slim waists, broad shoulders, muscular chests, V-shaped torso.

So the opposite of the above features are considered unattractive (in the extreme, "ugly").

So women whose faces appear crooked, and have unhealthy-looking skin, poor muscle tone, larger waist than hips, and look older than their age are seen as unattractive.

Interestingly, many of these attractiveness features are rated the same across cultures, e.g. facial symmetry. Even infants--with very little exposure to a culture--are more attracted to a balanced face than a crooked face. So their seems to be a genetic aspect to what we see as attractive, perhaps because these features are signs of good health--and mating between healthy people results in healthy offspring.
