How deep is the dermis layer of skin?

i am told that damage to dermis layer of skin (i.e throught cuts) causes scarring whereas damage to superficial layers does not cause scarring. Hop deep does the damage to the dermis have to be for a scar to be noticeable?

How deep is the dermis layer of skin?
it is the second layer of skin right below the epidermis.
Reply:at least deep enough to tear the dermis but not the subcoutanious or whatevr. but right when you cut past the epidermis its gonna scar whetther its lil or big. idk if that helps but i hope it does
Reply:tissues damage where the scar is permanent would have to be at least all the way thought the dermis of the skin for real bad scaring however it all so depend,s on your skin type
