When really, no one cares about anyone unless if they are beautiful...? I'm no a pretty person, In fact, I get asked whether I'm a boy or a girl sometimes. That's just the point though, if you aren't perfect looking, you get treated like the plague.
My question, why do people beat around the bush? "Beauty is only skin deep"... when someone says they want to be beautiful, they almost never mean they want a caring heart and kind soul, in fact, they NEVER mean that. So why beat around the bush? If your shallow, why not say so? Why actually act like you care?
Why do people say beauty is only skin deep?
As the very popular saying goes, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!” Many people have different views on what they consider to be beautiful which is why many people that I would view as unattractive are very beautiful in someone else’s eyes. The world today defines beauty based on outward appearances alone. You are not beautiful if you are not physically attractive. According to the world’s standards, beauty means being thin and tall. A clear complexion, shiny hair, straight teeth, radiant skin, and correct proportions are all elements of beauty. Unfortunately, numerous people cannot be all of these things and they are forced to believe that they are not beautiful in the eyes of others. Another saying that is very popular is, “Beauty is only skin deep.” I do not believe that this statement is true for the reason that with all the cosmetic surgery, technology and make-up that we have in the world today beauty is bought and not natural. Beauty can also be determined by a person’s personality and not necessarily by their looks because the way a person presents him or herself can make all the difference in the world. The most unattractive person can also display beautiful characteristics and it will conceal their appearance. Is beauty only conveyed in one particular color? No, African Americans are produced in many different shades, vanilla, caramel, mocha, coffee and chocolate. Black is in fact beautiful and there is no other race that can measure up to the beauty that is displayed by African Americans. In my opinion, people should not focus solely on the outside appearance because that can damage ones self-esteem. Parents should raise their children to appreciate the thoughts and actions of a person opposed to the looks of a person. Our priorities in American today are not at all in order but maybe one-day society will learn that beauty is not everything.
Reply:Some people are just plain hypocrites.
And don't listen to them, who are they to judge you on how you look. Screw them.
Reply:They are talking about physical beauty, people who act like that, IS only beautiful on the outside. True beauty goes all the way through. Beauty like you are talking about, shallow, self-centered, vein, is only skin deep. When their beauty fades, whats left.?
Reply:only ugly people say that.
Reply:People are shallow and hypocritical. The problem with words of wisdom such as "Beauty is only skin deep" is that they escape the comprehension of the normal person. For proof read the answer above.
The truly great movies or albums are SO frequently outsold by the "Another Romantic Comedy About Friends" and "I'm From the Streets %26amp; I Rap about $$$" type pieces of crap.
Enlightenment is not for the average Homo Sapien, they would trade it all away for comfort.

Reply:Beauty is not a true reflection of the value or worth of a person. How they act and treat others is more important than how they look
Reply:i think it means that beauty comes with in..how u act
Reply:You can't judge a book by its cover. Substance is within.
In other words, someone beautiful may treat you like crap and be worthless trash -- or not. Same for someone who is definitely not beautiful on the outside.
Reply:A person's skin will change with age, illness, weight gain, accident, etc. but the inside of a person won't change so that is what you need to look for in someone. Also, someone's looks does not reflect what kind of a person they are.
Reply:To me it means that to be beautiful may be convenient but it is not what is important about being a person.
Everyone has the same feelings.
Reply:it means that the chatecter of a person cannot be determined by his/her beauty. you can't juge people by their looks, coz looks can be pretty deceiving. anyone can beautyfy his/her self with makeup. but that makeup won't influence their charecter.
The beauty of a person is only skin deep. the mind lives still deep inside and cannot be defined by the physical beauty.
Reply:I am sure that you heard it said that appearance does not matter so much and that it only matters what is on the inside. Reply:Beauty is only skin deep
Meaning
Physical beauty is superficial.
Origin
Proverb. First found in a work by Sir Thomas Overbury's, 1613:
"All the carnall beauty of my wife, Is but skin deep."
What his wife thought isn't recorded. There is a fanciful work attributed to Overbury called A true and historical relation of the poysoning of Sir Thomas Overbury, 1651. Perhaps she had him worried?
'Skin deep' is now also used to allude to anything superficial. An early use of this was also attributed to Overbury in 1613, in Ordinary Fencer Works, 1856:
"His wounds are seldome above skin-deep."
Reply:It sort of goes along with "Pretty is as pretty does." That is, if a pretty person does ugly things, then he or she is not really pretty. Likewise, if someone who is not particularly attractive does nice things, then those actions make the person attractive. I remember in 8th grade where we had 8 boys and 20 girls in the class. We heard that we were getting a new boy in class and all of us girls were hoping for someone really cute. When we first saw him, we were disappointed. However, when we saw how well he did playing basketball, our opinion changed and he became much more attractive and sought after.

If i have tan skin deep set of dark brown eyes dark brown hair wt colour of lipstick should I wear plz help?
I agree pink wouldn't look good because it is more of a color for fair skin. Try just sticking with the neutrals. I think that you just need to find a better brand that displays your beautiful skin more. I would stick with the golds, and coppers but something that is soft and not glittery.
Reply:lip gloss,golden lipstick{channel} makes a nice one.... I like you are tanned,brown eyes with golden flakes in them...... just shimmering lip gloss looks good with a nice tan......{minimal make up}
Reply:I use mocha's you would be able to use browns with reds in it.

If beauty is only skin deep...?
and fat is only deep skin.... why aren't fat people attractive?
If beauty is only skin deep...?
because by nature, human, especially men are visual creature.
So when fat people gain weight, they start to lose their masculine/feminie shape/curves. This cause human to be turned off in most case.
Reply:I feel exactly same way. I absolutely hate it because now when women say they have curves, I automically get impression they're fat. Report It
Reply:who says fat people aren't attractive.
men like their women curvy.
Reply:we are attractive
Reply:some of them are. I am a little bit of a chubby chaser myself. I like my men all sizes.
Reply:what about people with 'thick skin'? are they prettier than others? (fat people can be attractive, I know lots of overweight people who really are nice to look at--its the sloppy people that gross me out.)
Reply:it is because of their facial features.
Reply:No one likes an elephant... curvy is ok but fatass isn't. No one is going to tell me that fat people like the way they look or that others like it either. Why are diets like a multi-billion dollar industry? I mean come on. No, stick thin isn't the best either but somewhere in between. And "beauty is only skin deep" pretty much was invented as an excuse to be mad at pretty girls who are bitches. That is true, like beauty only goes so far, but I don't know anyone who doesn't somehow value beauty.
Reply:Aww. I beg to differ. Some fat people are very attractive.
And the saying "beauty is only skin deep" refers to the fact that there is more to a person than beauty. Its whats on the inside that really matters. You may have a beautiful person in front of you whom would not give you the time of day because they don't like the way you look!, or dress, or whatever.
Wouldn't you rather make a friend of a person with qualities like caring, intelligence, good morals, conscientious, honest, trustworthy, than with a person that has none of those qualities but is a beauty!
Just to clarify, this is not to say that a person with beauty would not have all of those qualities too!
